It’s spring!

Or at least I’m pretending it is. It’s supposed to be, isn’t it? The weather the past couple of days has been so up and down, at least where I live. One day it will be pouring rain, the next a little glimpse of sunshine, and the day after that, it will alternate between the two! I just want sunshine!

Despite this indecisive weather, my body is in full on sunshine mode. I’ve been craving so many fresh fruits and veggies, as much raw foods as possible, and little to no processed foods at all. I’ve been learning to tune in and listen to my body, and I feel so vital and healthy!

It’s so important to always nourish ourselves with delicious, healthy foods. We are what we eat, so we must eat to FEEL GOOD! Indulge in the foods and drinks that will not only satisfy your taste buds, but make your body feel great too!

I’m a firm believer in not feeling guilty about anything that you eat, especially delicious, vegan food! But that being said, sometimes it’s important to take a break from all the processed foods and treat yourself to some fresh vitamins and minerals.

This is what I strive for always, and I do have a generally healthy diet, don’t get me wrong, but sometimes it can be all too easy to slip into old habits, and go with what’s easy rather than what’s nourishing. Too much bread and dough, and too many lazy meals, and eventually it starts to add up. I start to feel slowed down and sluggish. This was me recently, but this time, instead of allowing myself to slow down and carry on with the laziness, I decided to listen to what my body was telling me, and start putting more effort into eating things that not only taste good, but make me feel GREAT as well!

This smoothie is an excellent way to start your day feeling refreshed, energized, and full of life. It can also be a great way to begin fighting off that hang over from last night 😉

Smoothies are super simple, which is one of the reasons I love them so much! Just add everything to your blender, and blend it all on high. You might have to add a little more almond milk part way through if your blender starts to struggle like mine did.

Once everything is smooth and creamy, transfer it to a bowl or glass, and top with fresh fruits, seeds, nuts, or your choice of toppings. Enjoy!

This smoothie is delicious, nourishing, and loaded with vitamins and antioxidants! Perfect for an easy everyday breakfast, or for getting rid of that hangover from last night.

Ingredients
  • 1 Banana (fresh or frozen)
  • 1/2 cup Frozen Strawberries
  • 1/2 cup Frozen Blueberries
  • 1/4-1/2 cup Almond Milk (depending on desired consistency)
  • 1 tsp Chia Seeds
  • 2 tsp Hemp Hearts
  • 1 scoop Vegan Protein Powder (optional)
Directions
  • Step 1 All all ingredients to a blender, and blend on high until smooth and creamy.
  • Step 2 Stop blending and add more milk if necessary
  • Step 3 you want it to be thick, but still blendable.
  • Step 4 Serve in a bowl or glass, garnished with fresh fruits, seeds, nuts, and/or your own favourite toppings.
